This is one of the “secret” hideaways around Albuquerque. At the very west end of the Montaño bridge, on the south side, there is a parking area which leads to trailheads along the Rio Grande. Some years ago there was a fire which destroyed some trees here and someone came up with the idea of turning some expert wood carvers loose on the dead tree branches to give then a new artistic life.

The cast and crew of “Crash” the hit TV series on the Starz network has been filming in Albuquerque, now in its second season. Having used the Noon Day Ministry as a set several times during the season, actor Ross McCall (third in, with white cap, serving food) suggested that the producer sponsor a volunteer event where the cast and crew serve a Saturday meal at Noon Day. Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight; second in) and Jake McLaughlin (In The Valley of Elah; first server), along with other stars, producer, director and union crew members also volunteered to participate.

Its another example of the movie industry in New Mexico giving back to the community.
