Cast and crew of "Crash" volunteer to serve the homeless

The cast and crew of “Crash” the hit TV series on the Starz network has been filming in Albuquerque, now in its second season. Having used the Noon Day Ministry as a set several times during the season, actor Ross McCall (third in, with white cap, serving food) suggested that the producer sponsor a volunteer event where the cast and crew serve a Saturday meal at Noon Day. Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight; second in) and Jake McLaughlin (In The Valley of Elah; first server), along with other stars, producer, director and union crew members also volunteered to participate.

Its another example of the movie industry in New Mexico giving back to the community.

Blazing Blazek

The Albuquerque Stunt Player’s Association held its one year anniversary celebration event on Saturday, September 19, 2009. I covered the event. Here, stunt player Alan Blazek demonstrates a new heat blocking gel he’s developed.. Don’t try this at home!

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is Coming in October

This image was made during the 1998 Balloon Fiesta! I don’t think the Mounty is still flying anymore, but there are sure to be some new and exciting special shapes again this year.

Will Hartman wins Best Movie at 2008 Duke City Shootout

JM__98A5125Will Hartman’s movie “Food For Thought” won the best pictute award at the 2008 Duke City Shootout awards ceremony. I made this image using the Canon EOS 1D Mark 3 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens. The camera was set for “AI Servo” focus mode which predicts where a moving subject will be based on computing the movement. You’ll see this same camera with even bigger white lenses on the sidelines at the NFL games this fall to capture those great action shots. In all fairness, you’ll see Nikon D3s there too. They are the ones with the big black lenses.

Will was on his way to the podium to accept his award and was moving pretty fast. Lest anyone believe winning that award wasn’t important, look again at the photo. I liked the “in the moment” expression so much I had it enlarged to a 20″ X 30″ print and it hangs in my office.
